Auckland's CBD is full of desk based workers, and posture related pain is one of the top reasons people come to our Mount Albert physio clinic. Small daily habits make a huge difference.

Build a healthier desk setup

Your environment shapes your posture all day. Get the basics right first.

  • Top of screen at eye level
  • Elbows at 90 degrees, wrists neutral
  • Lumbar support in the small of your back
  • Feet flat on the floor or on a footrest

Daily habits that matter

Movement throughout the day beats one perfect posture.

  • Stand and move every 30 to 45 minutes
  • Walk for part of your lunch break
  • Take phone calls standing or walking when you can
  • Two short mobility breaks a day, even one minute each

Strengthen what holds you up

Posture is supported by your deep core, glutes and upper back. A short strength routine twice a week protects your spine far more than reminders to sit up straight.
